differences between Kubrick and Spielberg by Terry Gilliam

"One of the differences between Kubrick and Spielberg is Spielberg's most successful ... ... his films do much more money," says Terry Gilliam, laughing at the beginning of this video we present, which examines briefly but aptly distinguishestwo of the most renowned film directors of recent years, both celebrated, it is true, but for different reasons in each case.

Comparing Gilliam seems simple in its approach but is broad in scope and couldbe summarized to the possibilities that each director offers the viewer with his film: while Spielberg's films are a way over, a single route and a single goal, Kubrickpaths are open to join the audience in confusion, in the multiple possibilities of thought and reflection.

"They are comfortable," says Gilliam on Spielberg's films and, in general, theysucceed in Hollywood, "you get answers, even if the answers are stupid, the answers to which you go home and have nothing to think about it. With Kubrick andwith the big names go home and think about it. "
